Here’s How You Can Start Creating a Happy New Year!

Like a lot of people, you may have reflected on the year that was, and thought about the great experiences you’ve had, as well as the challenging times that you’d rather forget.

For some of you, you may find yourself in limbo as 2017 begins… perhaps there is uncertainty surrounding your relationship, your job, finances, your health, loved ones, or some other aspect of your life.

And, living with ‘uncertainty’ can be stressful. Sometimes, when you don’t have a definite answer in hand, it can create a host of worries, ruminating, messy thinking and feelings of overwhelm, that you’d rather live without.

At times, this uncertainty can very much be within your realms of control – such as when you need to make a decision about something, but you keep chopping and changing your mind, asking yourself over and over “what would really be the best decision to make?”. Or, perhaps you’re so close to making a decision, but then fear creeps in, and you lose the courage to take that first step to set you on a new path?

Fear – it can ruin plans, dreams and leave greater happiness sitting on the back-burner.

So, today, I’d like to offer a suggestion.

A new way of looking into 2018, before it gets too far ahead of you.

2018 presents as a blank canvas for you – ready to be painted.

I’d like you to imagine yourself, on the last day of this year – 12 months down the track.

I’d like you to visualise yourself happy, feeling content, and truly satisfied with your life in every way imaginable.

You feel loved, secure, nourished, grateful, connected to those you care about, healthy, financially stable, energised, successful, motivated and inspired.

How is this sounding to you?

Take your time to imagine these feelings, and see yourself loving your life, and loving yourself.

What does this look like for you?

Where are you?

Who are you with?

What are you doing?

What has changed for you?

Once you’ve done this, I’d like to ask you to write down all the things that NEED to happen, in order for you to feel this way.

What needs to change?

And, as you identify each of these things, it’s really important that you also ask yourself ‘WHY?’… Why are each of these things so important to you?

Then… you can start planning to take action!

Just as you can dream, you can also create your own happiness, one decision, and one day at a time.
